Carrera 7 #11-10, Bogotá, Bogota, Colombia
Plaza de Bolívar
It is the most important and historic square in Bogotá. Its construction was begun by the Spanish in 1539, and the city's first houses were built around it. The most important historical event that took place there was the reception of Simón Bolívar and the Liberation Army in 1819, who arrived triumphantly from the Battle of Boyacá. Currently, Plaza Bolívar is surrounded by Bogotá's main buildings: the National Capitol, the Primada Cathedral, the Liévano Palace, the Palace of Justice, and the Independence Museum. It is the starting point for exploring the city's historic center and the epicenter of various social movements.
